Darrin,
Good morning! You have gone straight to THE difficult question. I have been asked that so many times. The question really is, "Is God just in His decisions". God says in His word (and He cannot lie) that His judgements are just. We will agree with His justice when we are made to understand. I have to accept that on faith because I don't fully understand the mind of God. Faith is a key and vital component of our relationship with God. I believe that a God who would humble Himself and become a man when He existed in the form of God before that. Then showed mankind a way out of the trap they were in. Then sacrificed His own life willingly to seal the bargain. We should trust Him that He has done all He can to save us. God made a big investment in saving mankind, and I haven't mentioned so much that went before that. He has certainly done all He could to save as many as possible. He does have to do it in the framework of righteousness and truth that He exists in. He cannot compromise His attributes to do it. satan had certain rights to accuse mankind before God in heaven before Jesus's sacrifice but God would not restrict that even though certainly He didn't like it. When God gives His word it is better than gold, He will not take it back even when it was given to the devil. When He says His judgements are just I believe Him in faith that He is doing the right thing.

I have not researched this completely but in Jewish society children reached the age of accountability and then they were responsible for their actions instead of their parents. Many believe that children go straight to be with the Lord if they die before they reach that age. There is also a statement in the word that the children are sanctified by the parents. In Israel they were all Jewish and therefore (I think) all sanctified under the law. Since Jesus fulfilled the law and made the new covenant in His blood are the children of the saints sanctified or all children of believers and unbelieving parents as well? It is something to look into carefully. But even before I know the answer I know that God's judgements are just and He cannot lie. It is for me to accept that about God, not judge God in ignorance as so many do ( I am not saying that about you, just a general statement). Who am I? I am not God. I don't dwell in unapproachable light. I am not the embodiment of all truth and righteousness. I did not create the universe and the angels and man. I am not the One who shuts and no one opens or who opens and no one shuts. I did not empty myself when I was God and become a man, then fulfill all righteousness and sacrifice myself for all mankind. I do not sit now at the right hand of the Father in heaven as Jesus does waiting my return for my kingdom. I await God's justice. It will be the best I've ever had!
