Patrick, OT <fill rate>
The fill rate is a strong function of rendering
parameters, but mostly it is the size of triangles.
What I am trying to say that it is meaningless to
say "fill constrained" without specifying the
typical triangle size. If you check out
performance results for i740, foil 12:
eecs.umich.edu
you will find out that the boundary between
"fill-constrained" and "CPU-constrained"
is in the range of 50 pixels per triangle.
If your benchmark is a rotating doughnut
made of 300 triangles of 100 pixels each,
it will be "fill-constrained" with almost
any processor.
If your 3-D object is a detailed gargoyle,
with 3000+ tiny triangles in tessellation,
you will be most likely constrained by
CPU/system set-up rate.

BTW, the i740 does not look any better
than average 3-D card...
