The L2 picture you describe is very strange. If the stock is falling out of bed, there should be massive amounts on the offer and less on the bid.

Agree... that's why I'd like to figure out what was happening on Friday. If it were just a sudden sell pressure which caught the MMs by surprise, why would they re-enter and take more punishment?

Sometimes I find it safer to not watch the L2 at all unless I want to know WHO is on the bid/ask. The T&S tells it all: speed of trades, whether the trades are at bid or ask. If buyers/sellers dry up, the pace slows and the spread widens. I always wonder who's buying/selling when there is almost no-one lined up on the L2, but 5000share blocks keep trading anyway. L2 must show only a very small part of the market.

Is there a system which shows WHO is associated with the entries on the T&S? It sure would be nice to know who bought or sold something...
