The guy who wants to keep his rabbit shooter will protest any regulation of assault weapons, M16 banned today and next week there goes his old pump gun. Ban PBAs and soon abortion is illegal again. Protect the fringe and the core isn't attacked.

jbe, I think the Defense Department should be one of the responsibilities of the Government, don't you! If our govt doesn't defend us, who will? Prisons? Sounds like another defense of our citizens mechanism....building roads, helping with infrastructure...things I would expect the govt to be about. I do not expect the govt to guarantee out come based education, a chicken in every pot or most of the other things they want to guarantee now, unless you work for it! Abortion? The govt shouldn't have gotten involved in it in the first place. Stop spending on it now, either for or against it! Arts? What's the govt doing in the arts? Highways, yes! Commerce, yes! Welfare, no! Minimum wage, no! The list goes on and on! The conservative thinks govt should spend on the country and the liberals think the govt should spend it on the people that didn't earn it. It's redistribution of wealth and penalizing accomplishments! That's big govt and that's wrong!
