Only thing I have found is their execution is fairly fast at Market open & Close. However more often than not, the order is rejected and there is no immediate reason. The stupid message says it could be anyone from zillion possible reasons (all listed..!!)....

As regards their short list, I have no idea...never used that part. The customer service certainly sucks...but then for 8 bucks one cannot expect a valet service....

I have ceased operating thru Suretrade now...but made good money thru their account in recent past..good luck, if you will..!

Sorry folks, but, you'll never find the perfect broker. I have had experience with Schwab, E*Trade and Suretrade and there are different quirks with each one. I have always believed that ultimately you get what you pay for, or less. Schwab ironically being the most expensive of the three is very annoying when they decide to start plucking some stocks out of your margin account under the ruse of risk-aversion. Usually upon complaining loudly they'll return the full-service commissions you paid, but, will not necessarily make you whole again. Schwab's web service is usually very reliable as are their phone systems. If you're an affluent customer Schwab is probably the way to go. E*Trade a couple of years ago was almost a total disaster when Herzog did their clearing. It appears now they're back on track. I have had no problems to date with the new E*Trade, however, I'll continue to knock on wood! As to Datek, I've never encountered any problems except the slow servers at certain peak periods. In all honesty, those who need to get in and out at breakneck speed should probably just pay the higher commissions at Schwab. At least their phone systems always seem to function.
