ON how to treat gains - I tried deciphering this info my self from the internet gov websites - WHAT a joke - I still have yet to find the 30 day rule.

No question on daytrading being income versus Cap gains. And YES - consult with an accountant. 20% a year for a computer is a joke - Computers should be expensed - the friggen things are virtually disposable now.

I have found the same problem finding fundamental data on Canadian stocks. So far the only thing I have been able to do is dig for data in press releases and on Sedar, a very time consuming process. The print financial post publishes a calendar of 'Upcoming earnings' for the coming week, but it's no longer on the website. I'm not sure what is going on at Canoe but about a week ago they seem to have chopped most useful data including the earnings table from the site. Maybe they were not selling enough paper. None of the major Canadian financial news organizations seem interested in embracing the electronic medium as has been done in the US. Some time ago I contacted FP about this and there was even talk about a paid site with the full content of FP online but nothing so far has come of it.

In the US I also use the WSJ briefing books and Yahoo for quick access to key fundamental data and ratios.
