"SyQuest also had been one of the largest employers in Fremont, where the company is based. But that changed in August when SyQuest fired 950 employees -- half its worldwide work force -- and shut down manufacturing operations here.

They have stopped manufacturing at the Fremont Plant since in August. So they have been burning down inventory since then. I don't know how much manufacuring they were capable of oversees.

I don't expect much of a market dump of drives...

Also, the speculation that IOM had an offer that requires SYQT to file for BK is a good move for IOM. That way they can pick and choose the parts they want, if any. They should buy the patents, Syquest trademark (to bury it) and the manufacturing facility in Fremont.

IOM would then be the new player in Sicicon Valley!

OT to all,

I have severe problems getting links to anything other than this website tonite, including the link in Ben's message 3612. Is anyone else experiencing troubles?
