Here's an unfortunate case of wasted technological development efforts.

Gee that's really worth getting a $5000 TV instead of a $500 one.

Why not buy two $2000 heavy duty PCs instead and leap into the digital universe? <gg>

It puzzles me how these non-starters ever get birthed, Divx being another example coming readily to mind. All that engineering effort totally wasted.
