<Actually, I'm still kind of in shock regarding this news. I'm pretty confident that this is one of the last things most CREAFers expected, especially at this juncture.>

I'm ambivalent about this announcement. Conventional wisdom has it that a company pays cash dividends when it has nothing better to do with the money (like invest it to earn a higher return). Does this move suggest that Creaf has run out of more profitable things to do with its cash pile? I hope not. Perhaps there is a capital gain tax on the sale of stocks in Singapore, and paying out dividends that are tax-exempt is one way to reward long-suffering stockholders there.

I just got back on the thread and saw the news. I feel just like you, I'm in shock. A dividend? Where the hell did they dream this up? This is the last thing I expected. I sure don't get it. What do they think this does for them?

I sure hope it doesn't effect the buy back plans. One thing to remember, every share they buy back is 50 cents less in pay out.
