jbe, liberalism and socialism may have vastly different roots, but as practiced in the United States they are in harmony in many way's. I would take America and it's success's over Western Europe any day. That is one of the fears of Conservatives, far too many people want to go down the socialistic path of more government intervention in peoples lives like Western Europe has. I don't believe that is the correct path to take. This is part of what I was referring to when I discussed broad visions a short while ago. The vision I would shoot for is less government intrusion in our lives not more. Less taxation and more free-enterprise solutions. The more you free the people from government regulations and control, the more overall wealth and prosperity you create.

The slant in the major media toward the liberal philosophy by now is beyond debate. Every major news media with any honesty has admitted to this. The fact that reporters voted over 90% for Clinton demonstrates this clearly. The fact that you cannot or will not see this demonstrates your unwillingness to look beyond your assumptions. Just the other day on election night the glee in the local newscasters over Democratic upsets was so apparent in was sickening. There are literally so many examples I haven't the energy to post them.

The fact that it took most of the major newspapers as long as it did to call for Clinton to resign, to me showed their bias. It was known well before he admitted to lying that he perjured himself. It took far less for them to go after Nixon years ago.

The next time you watch one of these talking head shows, I have an experiment for you. Simply count the people you would consider Conservative Republicans vs, liberal Democrats. And I mean real conservatives not the wishy washy variety. Usually those shows have one Conservative, three liberals and one moderate. Check it out sometime. The only exception might be the Mcglaughlin report. Certainly CNN and ABC are the most biased of them all.

>>And if it is indeed true, as you assert, that"most people are not liberal," then one absolutely has to ask what the Borks and the Bennets are raising such a hullaballo about.<<

Joan, I thought the Borks and the Bennetts were raising such a hullaballo about the degradation of personal ethics, you're not suggesting liberals have a lock on lack of moral character, now are you?
