A harbinger of things to come? Tomorrow's Time magazine will have two different covers for different parts of the country. Some mid western states will get a cover picture of Jesse Ventura. The rest of the county will have Newt.

Is the nation now too diverse to be covered by a single national news magazine? Or is this just an example of slick marketing to the rubes.

Does it bother you at all that the Federal Government has no constitutional authority to be in the wealth transfer business?

jbe, outcome based education was something the liberals tested the waters with a few years ago. I only went to one meeting, which was enough for me to see where they were headed, and do not remember all the specifics but, basically, it was an attempt to dumb down education even more. They suggested that failing grades reduces self esteem and one suggestion was to change "you failed" to "you almost passed" or words to that effect. The "outcome" part of OBE was basically to quit failing students and advance them to different levels at the next grade! Good idea? I don't think so. If you do not pass the test, you fail and you either try harder next time or you fail again! Needless to say, OBE didn't get very far. The NEA and government at their finest!!! Send education back to the states!

On welfare, in it's present form is a big pork give away program in many instances. No, I'm not suggesting we throw innocent children out in the street and starve them to death! When I see a welfare mom wearing more gold than Mr. T, I have a problem with that. When I see someone checking out of a grocery store with expensive T-bones or the most expensive ice cream or expensive foods that hard working families cannot afford and paying for them with food stamps, I have a problem with that! Welfare to work is a good start but fraud is rampant and controls need to be put in place! A lot of people are on welfare that have no business being there!

On minimum wage, it costs jobs and it shouldn't be the governments business what an employer pays. If the wages are not competitive and fair, there will be no takers for the jobs. Simple!
