richard, good point re: the harrier ;-) if we started from scratch i'd want a competitive system. i want a competitive system down the road. i just don't want the kids of today to pay 100% of the price for the benefits of tomorrow. spreading the pain over time seems to make the most sense to me. i still think it isn't the amount of pain that is important to most people. rather, it is who bares it. the current mistake has already been made. a slow transition, imho, is merely a necessary result of something that happened over the course of the last 0-30 years. we respectfully agree to disagree.
