Ira (and Cheeky and Brad) - It worked! Disabling the Proxy server was the answer. I had to go into Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN settings to do it. (It was the LAN settings that I didn't know about last night).

So thanks, Ira, for the tip - and Brad, this might solve all of the other @Home complaints.
