re backwards compatibility:

guess i see it differently. looks to me like they are making the "new" chipsets forward compatible to comply with rmbs specs. my point is that, as i understand things, present pc's are not upgradeable to rmbs.
oh yes, and let's not forget all of the other uses for rmbs besides pc's. i have read on this thread that the ceo has stated that he sees computers as only 50% of the total business for rmbs.

If your statement about AMD is true, then all I can say for them is "ooops" (for them). Stupid move. SDRAM will not be RMBS compatible, so if they're wasting their time and resources trying to hedge a bad bet, I have a feeling that effort will just amount to another drag on their bottom line.....
