For links to articles dealing with network caching (a potential use of the DataDock 7000 and beyond series see the following links from Performance Computing September 98)

In fact, some experts argue that a well-designed cache can save enterprises at least 35 percent of their network bandwidth. Of course,
we can't emphasize "well-designed" enough here--if you end up guiding all your users to the same set of cache servers for ev…..

For a discussion on DSL, one approach to the bandwidth problem which uses POTS twisted copper to the end user, see:

Actually, Adams doesn't mention digital subscriber lines by name, but he should. Running at multi-megabit speeds over regular copper phone wire, DSL is bound to relieve more than a few cases of corporate pipe envy. Remote-office users, telecommuters, and mobile professionals who connect to the Internet and their corporate networks via 56Kbps dial-up modems, 128Kbps ISDNs, or even traditional T1 services can get the big pipe they yearn for with DSL.

John, I enjoyed your post. Know that line of thought. Some of the best potential investing qualities...patience....fortitude....sure turned against us. And of course there was always something potentially right around the corner. At first AXC WAS much more than a KM company. When DST growth stalled and the ongoing royalties began to decline and DCR sales fell and cash flow became negative and the jury verdict was overturned and no completely new products arose from R&D, then it did become for awhile a KM stock. Then KM failed but they borrowed the money and many ( including I ) thought they must have a definite viable business plan in hand or they never would have gotten the loan through. Beyond their core, more complete, storage company intent , that plan seems absent. Now we assume they would not hire Imagio without something really new to promote. May be a false assumption.
I don't hunger to be one of the rich guys so much as I simply hunger for food...lol...need to eat. I support a household with what I have done with the market, and have certain very time consuming responsibilities in it that make a regular job problematical. So AXC has been a very costly mistake for me.
That said, even just success as a simple storage company - MicroNet growth from here and 19mm growth - could get the company on sound footing again and bring the price back up. If the cash flow and price come back up, then they can acquire more aggressively May happen. Not selling here either...let them bones roll....
