OFF TOPIC:

Aleta, please qualify your remark below:

"At least I know that your not beyond the use of deceit to express your views."

Are you saying it was deceitful for me to run for office as a Republican? As a Democrat, should I have given back the Friend of Freedom Award from the Libertarian Party?

My brief Republican candidacy existed as a vehicle for the expression of a difficult issue which I believe society some day must come to grips with. That Republicans dominated New Hampshire politics, it made sense this party should consider that issue. My candidacy provided such an opportunity. I gave some pretty good speeches, actually.

Wasting 15 billion annually to wage an unwinnable drug war, only to continually achieve the same results (nothing changes, except further erosion of civil liberties) should very much be a Republican issue. Why isn't it?

We should seriously consider reversing the 70/30 percent ratio and apply 70% to massive treatment programs rather than building prisons, beefing up police budgets and giving our canned politicians a 'free-ride' issue to postulate and manipulate before a genuinely concerned citizenry. Fifteen billion dollars! Aleta, what's conservative about that?

Furthermore, what is politics about if not for the freedom of expression? For me, it was an interesting experience and one I wouldn't hesitate to do again under similar circumstances. And I, too, like Robert Redford in the movie, The Candidate, ate all the shrimp. The only possible way your accuasation of deceit could be supported is by the fact it was Republican shrimp! (LOL)

Here's something for you to consider: Perhaps you're too narrow-minded. Why not get your man, George W. Bush, Jr. to open his mind and challenge with something new and invigorating. I guarantee you, he's only gonna promote nothin' but the same old lousy can of same-oldism, with nothing new to offer, only his pedigree. Hmm. Maybe former Texan governor Ann Richards was right!

PS: To Jon Tara: What have you been smoking? Aren't you the one that created the SI Asteroid Index thread?
