<< Why would they fix a price far lower than they can produce it for? >>

To accumulate gold?

<< Anticipating the death of Eduoard in 1949, Rothschild agents began to sell their majority stock holdings of Royal Dutch Shell, Rio Tinto and Le Nickel ( giant mining corporation ) to drive down the price of shares just prior to his death to reduce the value of the estate that was subject to taxation by the French Government. This selling created a panic in the world markets depressing stock prices further. A few days following the death of Eduoard, Rothschild agents bought the volume of stock back at depressed prices, and his reported estate wealth was taxed at the depressed price on the day of his death. One should never underestimate the capacity of a Rothschild to influence markets, even today. >>

IMHO, the wrong questions are being asked ... It is not 'who is selling the gold?', it should be 'who is buying the gold that is being sold?'.

BWDIK ... I am probably just being paranoid.

:-))

Richard - this London fixing has nothing to do with manipulation at all - the process has been in place, each day, through all markets, including the run up to $850. The price is set according to the market, and buy and sell orders - it is always more or less in sync. with the futures markets. What I find amazing is the enormous daily volume in physical gold transactions.

"A reader sent me this quote of Alan Greenspan's from a speech he gave in Belgium in January 1997:

We have the responsibility to prevent major financial market disruptions through development and enforcement of prudent regulatory standards and, if necessary in rare circumstances, through direct intervention in market events.

The quote's too old to check. But I sure wish Greenspan would tell everyone if a rare event has occurred and he was forced to rig the stock market. "
