You can define success in any way you want.

I define success as entering the online CD music business and becoming the leader within 4 months. That is absolutely amazing, no matter which way I slice it.

Name for me any other company that enters a business with real competition and becomes its leader in such a short period of time.

At almost any point in the future, Amazon could pull the plug on marketing (and other) expenses and make very good money.

They clearly CHOOSE not to do so now because they are in a building phase, the building of a stellar brand.

I won't argue with you that their stock market capitalization seems high, because it does. I also won't argue with you about the stock price falling significantly today, because I think it will.

Let me ask you a question: At what price would YOU buy Amazon right now?

Would it be a bargain at $10 a share?
