From computerworld... "Optical fiber patent sought Start-up SilkRoad Inc. in San Diego demonstrated last week that it could transmit data at 93G bit/sec. over a single wavelength using a single optical fiber 100km long, using a process called Refractive Synchronization Communication. Analysts said other fiber-optic vendors are testing similar bandwidth capacity, but only with multiple waves traveling together over a single fiber. SilkRoad applied for patents on the process last month and announced its first trial customer will be San Diego State University."
