You are defining the current state of affairs in mobile computing, telecommunications and digital photography in this statement. I don't think anybody on the thread really cares in the near term whether or not we will replace rotating media altogether. For some unique situations a solid state drive could potentially rival a CD or a hard drive, but that is not where the market is right now.

At the risk of seeming offensive I think it would be useful for you to read some earlier posts, peruse Rex and Jerome's detailed analysis from a year ago (which he has kindly reposted via the link), or read through a copy of the latest annual report. I am not sure we are currently reading from the same page, perhaps not even the same book.
