The charts for VLSI and LSI are ugly.

Time to retest the lows. Hello 6

Tom, it seems to me that your comment about VLSI and LSI being 'joined at the hip' is absolutely right on - even down to daily price movements. Both down yesterday. Both up today. By different amounts, of course... but nevertheless.

It seems to me that this specific sector is much more dependent on macro forces than the specific performance of the individual companies. (with all the usual disclaimers). Otherwise, this relatively parallel movement wouldn't exist.

Today, for example, all the boats are floating a little higher based, I suspect in very large measure to INTC's announcement. Note that as of this specific instant in time, the @ half point increase in VLSI is roughly the same percentage increase as INTC's.

No, I do NOT believe that VLSI is only going to track INTC... But, the way I read it is that the INTC announcement is going to change sentiment towards the chip industry in general. INTC is going to get a little pricey; and then people are going to look for bargains. Any company with reasonable prospects whose current stock price is less than its asset value is going to look a lot better by comparison.

It seems to me that the Stein situation will, at the end of the day, be a non-event.
