Pardon, but aren't we getting into an analog here of quadrature mod, a form of phase manipulation to explain the acceleration (compactification) of time and "evolutionary" parameters? I would expect that intensity (amplitude in the quadrature) would also be prevalent. That's been my perception here. If I'm missing the mark, by all means, fire way, Professor!

Dear Prof. Ahhaha,

You gotta be kidding. You seem to make this up as you go along.
Palmer's patent is just a variant of the DFB laser known since
the beginning of all time (well almost). An external cavity
can narrow the laser's linewidth and thereby improve its
coherence length, but that's it. Once you modulate the
monochromatic laser signal,it is no longer monochromatic
(but you know that), and so its coherence length is no longer
"infinite". A 20 GHz external modulator certainly adds a
lot of bandwidth capacity, and perhaps 40-60 GHz is in the cards,
but not 30 THz. When are you going to mention solitons, or
am I reading too far ahead ?

I don't know if anyone reads this thread; seems like Frank and
ahhaha talking to each other (if not one and the same). But folks,
yes, you laypersons with the dollars out there - there is no
unique physics or engineering here, so keep your hands on your
money.

A lot of things are difficult or impossible to conceive here. And the co doesn't help much with its explanations. Not being versed in quantum physics to the extent that I'd like to be... which means that I can't hold my own here when pure theory is being discussed, much less when it's couched in obscure terms [to me, at least], I think that lay-a-tizing the language in the thread to the extent possible would do wonders for its survival and furtherance. Having read you for some time, I know that you can do that without losing the essence of what you want to get across... at the risk of asking you to do a little more work. Okay, teach? ;-|
