Pat
Seems to me that NN is going about filling out their portfolio of future broadband products. Not sure if AL is behind the seeming coordination of the final pieces added or was just in the right place at the right time, but with the portfolio of products and services that NN now offers we may need to start thinking of NN as the lu or tlab of atm broadband. Any ideas on the thread re. recent announced restructuring at Siemens re. their current// future relationship with NN.
Regards,
Norden

Callidus Software Fills and Closes Beta Program
for TrueComp

Adds Adaptec, Netscape and Newbridge Networks

Over-Subscribed Beta Program Leads Company to Establish Beta Associates Program

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1998-- Callidus Software, the business performance systems
company, announced today that it has completed the selection of five initial customers for its TrueComp (formerly
TallyUp) beta program.

Joining Sybase Inc. and Cadence Design Systems, are Adaptec Inc. [Nasdaq:ADPT - news], Netscape
Communications Corp. [Nasdaq:NSCP - news], and Newbridge Networks Corp [NYSE:NN - news]. The five beta
customers are considered development partners, who will play a central role in ensuring that Callidus Software's
next-generation enterprise application for variable compensation management meets real-world corporate finance
demands for flexibility, usability, timeliness and accuracy.

Callidus Software is the first company to offer business performance systems (BPS) software, a new class of enterprise
applications that improve corporate financial performance by automating the variable cost accounting processes
associated with incentives, particularly those that affect both top and bottom-line results. Callidus Software's first BPS
product, TrueComp, will be an enterprise suite for managing variable compensation programs, such as sales
commissions.

Customer demand to participate in the TrueComp beta program has exceeded Callidus Software's recruitment goals.
The firm has responded by adding a second ''beta associates program,'' in which several additional customers will
participate in trials of late-beta versions of the BPS product.

''We're gratified by the high demand for our variable compensation management application and the recognition among
corporate finance organizations of the strategic value it offers in managing business performance,'' said Reed Taussig,
president and CEO of Callidus Software. ''We're committed to delivering on the promise of our software by keeping
our TrueComp beta program highly focused -- and by working closely with our beta customers to ensure that we meet
or exceed their requirements.''

Financial Focus, Flexible Next-Generation Architecture Drive Beta

Customer Demand

Callidus Software's newest beta customers -- Adaptec, Netscape and Newbridge Networks -- evaluated alternate
compensation applications and determined that Callidus Software's TrueComp provided three key advantages, including:

-- A flexible, component architecture designed to break down complex
compensation issues into manageable pieces and allow financial
managers to quickly and easily adapt the system to changing
business conditions.
-- A focus on addressing the demands of corporate finance
organizations that seek to use sales compensation as an incentive
for supporting financial objectives.
-- Knowledge of compensation administration, reflected in the
software and the company*s in-house domain experts.

''Callidus Software's next-generation application architecture makes perfect sense for addressing the complex challenges
of variable compensation,'' said Daphne Carillo, senior compensation analyst at Netscape Communications. ''Over the
last twelve years, I have written a lot of specialized compensation systems using databases and spreadsheets. Now using
Callidus Software's pre-defined components, we can easily adapt to new compensation plans without having to rebuild
the system every time.''

''At the end of the day, managing the variable sales compensation administration is a financial issue,'' said Kim Macfee,
controller for Adaptec. ''We work with sales and executive management to make sure that the plans are aligned with
strategy and motivate the right behavior, but we also need to balance this with fiscal responsibility. Callidus Software will
help us by providing audit, analysis and modeling capabilities to help us understand what happened and predict what can
happen.''

''From our very first meeting, it was clear that Callidus Software understands the issues that make sales compensation
administration difficult,'' said Tammy Alderman, senior compensation analyst at Newbridge Networks. With Callidus
Software, I am able to talk to people who have done my job and know what it takes to be successful.''

Pat,

look at news.com

The VPN are parts of CSR which is separate from mainstreet express but, include hardware on the 36170 and software on the 46020 mainstreet express, therefore you can understand it is tied with the 36170.

This service point that the author mention is actually a service card which allow cross connect of almost any non ATM VPN device (legacy routers on Frame Relay or Dedicated lines mainly but also ADSL and other technology).
