>>> The paradox of campaign finance reform of limiting big campaign contributions is that the full-time political fundraisers would be the unions and special interest groups such as AARP, Common Cause, Greenpeace, etc would have an even greater advantage than they do now. Those groups are in the business full-time: of mobilizing votes, issuing position papers and press releases, and fundraising full-time.

I don't have a problem with Greenpeace or GOPAC or the Heritage Foundation or the Cato Institute or AARP or the Mormons or the Catholic Church or the Communists or the Moral Majority or the unions or the Aryan Nations or anyone else "mobilizing votes, issuing position papers and press releases, and fundraising full-time". That is about ideas. They should be free to promote them, as we do here.

I just don't want them buying anything at all for a candidate. I don't want them giving the candidates rides in corporate jets. I don't want the candidates to somehow get free golf vacations where they play with the stars.

And I sure as hell don't want them buying ads on TV or putting any money in the candidates or party's campaigns in any way. That is a bribe, in my book.

The reason demos are currently willing to forgo all that and the repubs aren't is because right now the repubs are collecting the majority of the baksheesh.

But perhaps you differ on that statement?
