Joan, It sure is tough to have a meaningful discussion when you can't decide what the meaning of is is. No, we are better than that. You may eschew the current definition of "modern liberalism" because it doesn't reflect the view of liberalism which you had embraced, but insisting that it is "wrong" won't make you right! Just like you didn't care for the epithet "lala land liberals" and others on the thread resent the false broad brush characterization of the RR, this is the hand which we've been dealt. Frankly, few people "conform" with unanimity to such "labels", but for purposes of discussion, if you're going to call yourself a "liberal", then be prepared for "flogging" that today's "liberal" definition deserves <VBG> bp
