So what? There's nothing to say that Qualcomm's involvement is restricted to cdma. Nothing wrong with using the JV to broaden cdma market and then be able to have a piece of the rest of the pie, too. Could be the first thing Qualcomm does to go beyond pure cdma; so long as it's successful that can only be good for the long-term prospects of the company.
