Corel and Trellix Announce Worldwide Licensing Agreement

Trellix to be Incorporated in Next Version of Corel's Office Suite

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1998--Corel Corporation (Nasdaq:COSFF - news; TSE:COS. - news) and Trellix Corporation today announced the signing of a worldwide licensing and marketing agreement under which Trellix(R) 2.0 will be included in the next version of Corel's award-winning office suite. The suite will be revealed November 16, 1998 at Fall COMDEX in Las Vegas. Trellix's software, which won PC Week's Best of Comdex award for Best All-Around Application at COMDEX 1997, will add powerful Web authoring and presentation capabilities to Corel's word processor.

Trellix breaks a Webmaster ''bottleneck'' currently experienced by organizations of all sizes, by enabling users of word processors to create and maintain rich, linked Web documents. With Trellix 2.0 users do not need to know HTML coding or graphic design, which makes it a simple, easy-to-use tool for a wide range of users from home offices to large corporations.

''We have been working very hard to include best-of-breed technology in our office suites and are extremely excited about our relationship with Trellix,'' said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Corel Corporation. ''In the last few years the Web has become an extremely powerful and important business tool and we think it's fitting that our suites will now include an application that will allow users to increase productivity by tapping into that power.''

''The Web represents a profound, irreversible change in how information is presented and communicated,'' said Russ Werner, president and chief executive officer of Trellix Corporation. ''By integrating Trellix 2.0 into its office suites, Corel is really jumping ahead of the industry in helping customers realize the full potential of the Web.''

''Trellix offers users the ability to easily create Web-ready and easy-to-navigate documents. Marrying the Corel WordPerfect word processor to Trellix output will result in faster, easier to use, more compelling Web sites -- and that's everyone's goal,'' said Amy Wohl, industry analyst and president of Wohl Associates..."
