Mr. K. -- Interesting post. I agree with your position on the authentication of voters, although this is likely to depress the vote in places like Chicago, etc. where the dead vote regularly. <g> It amazes me that one of the most important rights (if not the most important) we have is not subject to some verification. I mean we have to get a license to drive or get married, show ID to buy beer or enter a nightclub, etc. but nothing is required to vote. I also believe voting should be spread over several days like a Thursday to Saturday. JLA

I still like the idea of voting at the same time you
file your taxes. Instead of just having the "presidential
election fund" checkoff, maybe Form 1040 could be extended
to checkoff the actual choice of candidates. Also, it
could be moved from the top of the form to the bottom
(right next to the box showing how much taxes you owe).
