I think I have to refer you to Paul or perhaps an accountant will do the honors. I think the word means to 'provide in advance' as a formality or something similar,meaning not the 'real thing'.So anyway in a financial context as in 'pro forma' income statement or earnings report and such it could mean just that,ie. a report given out in advance as a formality but not the official one.I don't know how close I am but you get the idea at least it should do as a pro forma explanation until someone more informed come to the rescue with the real thing.
