Jimmy,

I will be very surprised if ODI is a target at its current state. People who are close to the company realize that its future intrinsic value is far greater than its current value.

It is analogous to selling your home today knowing clearly that you can get double for it next year. The company has plenty of cash and there is really no reason to sell now.

Erez

Object Design(R) Announces NewsReal Selection of ObjectStore(R) to Power NewsReal Syndicated News Services

BURLINGTON, Mass., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Object Design, Inc. (Nasdaq: ODIS - news), a leading provider of enterprise, eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and embedded data management solutions, today announced that NewsReal has selected Object Design's ObjectStore database to power its entire offering of Web-based business-information services.

NewsReal is an InfoSeek spinoff that launched company operations earlier this year. The company offers a selection of co-branded syndicated business news and information services to business users through its network of business-partner Web sites, similar to the syndication model used by news organizations and other media companies.

ObjectStore will be used by NewsReal to store and serve every page generated by its services. ''This is an enormous task because we aggregate more than 30,000 articles per day and are constantly updating the most appropriate content for each service provided to our site partners,'' said Jace Wieser, NewsReal's vice president, technology & product development.
''ObjectStore not only provides us with a high-performance solution for managing all this information; it also enables us to dynamically create new pages, which means we can provide end-users with the most up-to-date news and information available.''

NewsReal's flagship product, IndustryWatch(SM), enables end-users to tap into detailed industry and company information from a comprehensive set of 20 vertical industries. IndustryWatch is currently on more than 20 of the Web's most popular sites, including CNNfn, InfoSeek and WorldBank. NewsReal also just announced a set of four new ''industry spotlight'' services for the finance, technology, healthcare and telecommunications industries and soon will roll out additional business and lifestyle services to support its ''Business Channel for the Web'' through its partner network.

''NewsReal is an excellent example of how companies today are using ObjectStore for advanced Web publishing applications,'' said Larry Alston, vice president of marketing for Object Design, Inc. ''ObjectStore enables NewsReal to manage vast numbers of news pages while practically eliminating the latency between the time news first appears, and the time it is available to end-users.''

Nice to see that the consensus estimates for ODIS's 98Q4 have been raised from $0.05 to $0.06 (earnings/share):

quote.yahoo.com

At current price levels, ODIS's forward P/E is about 19.6!!

Here's the formula: (28M (shares outstanding) x $7.00) / $10M (est. 1999 net income) = 19.6

Hopefully, ODIS's key parameter, that is licenses revenue growth can't be worse than what it was in the last Q! I wish the sales force's been able to raise it from a disappointing 16% to at least 25%.
