I'm not so sure about that. Three large players dropped out of the game. The Japanese had the profit squeeze put on them by Korea and Micron. The Japanese no longer enjoy playing in this cut-throat market. Korean cap. ex. dropped 80% this year. I've seen SDRAM DIMM prices go up 95% off their lows at my local hardware shop. Actual DRAM chip pricing has been firm to up for almost five months now. If Micron successfully upgrades the TI fabs, they will be the largest supplier of DRAM by far. Intel poured some cash into the company which will aid them in upgrading.

These are very real events and you can see their effect in MU's stock price. I've never owned the stock, but like to follow it as a barometer of industry health.
