Looks like Sun is throwing some weight behind storage networking. Anybody have a feel for how this reflects on the magnitude of Sun's efforts in this area? WORLD-RENOWNED COMPUTER ARCHITECT AND CO-CREATOR OF RISC ARCHITECTURE AND RAID JOINS SUN NETWORK STORAGE Sun announces the appointment of David A. Patterson, holder of the E.H. and M.E. Pardee Chair of Computer Science at the University of California at Berkeley, to the position of Chief Scientist of Network Storage. Patterson, once described by U.S. News & World Report as having, "Done more in the past 20 years to advance computer design than almost anyone in academia or industry" will participate in the engineering direction of Sun's Network Storage and will be a key contributor in the development of Sun's Intelligent Storage Network(TM) strategy.
