Well Alex, This is how I take it simply. There is some very large number of applications/problems in the world to solve. It will keep getting larger as computers become even more powerful. Linux on the fastest of chips built into consumer subsidized comodity hardware give performance that will solve a higher and higher percentage of the world problems. What's left over is ?? SGI area
Linux 2.2 will have suported smp. I see a very small market for SGI nt boxes. Hey, but I'm a marketzoid N-gin-EaR :), what do I know.

If one goes to www.tuxedo.org and reads the holloween documents, one will realize that this is bill gate's monica lewinsky. The free publicity for all things linux cannot be estimated. I see a continuing release of linux is the right stuff memo's coming out of Microsoft. Redhat 5.2 released yesterday may have instalation enhancements that give wide appeal to the less than average computer literate.

If one goes to odin.appliedtheory.com ,
one will see that the current linux buzz is several mainstream articles a day. 4 month's ago it was 3 to 6 articles a month.

New York Times
Wall Street Journal......

Oh and I have contributed two articles to Chris's list.
