John, I agree with your comment about the vagueness of upticks or downticks in the situation I mentioned.

When in doubt, I usually watch subsequent stock behavior to see the net result of the two buy/sell block trades (e.g. an "apparent" 30K share sell at bid - followed immediately by a 30K share buy at ask).

If the bid moves up in the ensuing minutes, I assume MM's are bullish and that they may have split a 60K order into two pieces.

Looks like ASPT IS meeting resistance at $18, but has good tone today! I suppose ASPT will shoot its wad over $18 today, then fall back as this bull may get tired soon. Crude technical support/resistance analysis would also support that theory, although there are often exceptions as we all know.
