Premier Parks' Profit Surged More Than Threefold, Topping Estimates

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Premier Parks Inc. Tuesday said its third-quarter profit more
than tripled on record performances at its existing theme parks and the inclusion of
figures from recent acquisitions.
Premier Parks (PKS) earned $100.8 million, or $1.24 a diluted share, up from $27.2
million, or 72 cents a diluted share, a year earlier. The results easily surpassed the
mean estimate of analysts surveyed by First Call for a profit of 99 cents a share.
Revenue skyrocketed to $446.4 million from $120.0 million, while adjusted cash flow,
or earnings before iterest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, grew to $243.3 million
from $55.7 million.
The Oklahoma City, Okla., company said profit was driven by record performances at
parks controlled by the company prior to the 1998 season and by two additions: Six Flags,
which the company acquired in February for $965 million and the assumption of $890
million in debt; and Belgium's Walibi SA, a European theme-park operator that was
purchased last year for between $76 million and $84 million.
