Congress Passes the "Legal Paper Reduction Act"

This week Congress passed the "Legal Paper Reduction Act". This bill will save taxpayers billions of dollars per year by no longer requiring the government to print the volumes and volumes of books needed to contain all the laws which tell Americans what they legally can not do. Instead the government will only be required to print a two-page pamphlet of the things that Americans can still do.

Said House Speaker Newt Gingrich, "We promised to cut wasteful spending and the "Legal Paper Reduction Act" saves the American people an estimated $1.3 Billion in paper and printing costs per year."

However, don't expect to see the savings anytime soon. President Clinton has already said that if the bill reaches his desk he will veto it. Apparently the President thinks that the list of things that Americans "can still do" is too long. He wants congress to go back and shorten the list so that it will fit on a one page flyer.
