Yep, thats significant. A earlier question was how is CPU going to beat Dell with a store. I don't really anticipate them doing head to head competition. Basically, Dell goes after the business community or people that have computer knowledge so they know what to order. CPU is more into the consumer side of things and into service. (Not floor service but corporate service and training.) I really anticipate that the big sellers on the floor in the future will be software and periprials, not the actual computers.

Eventually, Dell will be hurt by the cheap PC's like everyone else as businesses will start to realize a computer is a computer. If the componants are sound, than they won't break down. And they probably don't need a computer that runs a zillion cycles per second. For most offices, a basic 586 will do just fine. So why spend 2000 dollars on a Dell when they can get a fine machine for 1200?

Have you seen a Beta or read the requirements for Windows 2000?
Optimal, according to Microsoft is a Pentium II processor with 64 megs of DRAM (Hmm, wonder if it could require more horsepower, Naw, not MSFOFT) . The latest I've heard is M$soft is pushing hard to have this released by next June at the latest. They're trying to have it shipping before IT budgets are finalized for the fiscal year 2000. My guess is they'll make that date and have a slew of add on products and features later on, for the stuff that isn't ready. Not many systems sold 2 or more years ago could fully handle this OS so I believe this will also spur a substantial increase in hardware sales for the 2nd half of next year. Thinking of shorting the puts on CPU for next February or May. Any thoughts? Good premiums. If I get exercised I own the stock at a good price.
