Regarding patents; I have one from my days at EDS (just approved a month ago)... in my view the patents are for glory and will not translate into true financial gains for EDS. As with all software related products the potential for $$$ gains is before the patent has been granted. It took me three years for my patent number to be granted and in my view the logic behind the scenes is already outdated! Patents for me are just recognition for my hard work, I do not make money off the patents nor do I ever plan to... did it strictly for the recognition and that is all! As for the object-broker $$$ - do you know how much effort went into the creation of the software, EDS may have broke even on the deal just to recoup their initial money (earned money none-the-less).
