There's one in every crowd!

GD showing weakness today after completing an acquisition. I have been amazed at how strong this stock has held up, until today that is. Are you still watching GD?

JNJ is another stock that just won't quit. Anyone looking to short or put this sucker?

Yeah, I know it's tongue in cheek, BUT. I wonder if we'll be sitting here 3 or 4 years from now with YHOO $702 a share saying "Hey, I remember when I could have bought it for $175 a pop back in '98....." I'M SERIOUS.

All the excitement is caused by the "introduction" of ADSL technology, which most of the Bell's are test marketing right now. As far as I now ADSL technology is nothing new, and there does not appear to be anything proprietary in their news release. Am I missing something here????? Is this the tulip??

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1998--

50 Times Faster Than Conventional Modems? Now That's Fast!

Speeds Up to 50 Times That of a Conventional Modem Are Now an Option
for Homes and Small Office/Home Office Environments
through ADSL, at a Fraction of the Former Cost

AvTel Communications, Inc., (Nasdaq:AVCO.O), and its Internet
service provider subsidiaries Silicon Beach Communications and WestNet
Communications today announced the launch of its DSLink Service,
providing high-speed Internet access over Asymmetric Digital
Subscriber Line (ADSL). ADSL is a new modem-based technology that
provides a dedicated connection to the Internet that is up to 50 times
faster than conventional modems. It works on an existing phone line
and allows the sending and receiving of voice and data simultaneously.
The user is always just a click away from the Net with no waiting and
no busy signals.
DSLink Services will be available to residents and businesses
within three miles of one of their local telephone company's Central
Offices. Currently it is available in downtown Santa Barbara, with
further deployment through Goleta and Carpinteria due by the end of
November. Customers will incur additional charges from their local
Telephone Company, in addition to their existing line charges, and may
select a service offering from Silicon Beach for as little as
$30/month.
"Our DSLink Services enable us to provide our Residential and
SOHO customers access speeds previously only cost effective for larger
businesses," stated Dave Clark, General Manager of AvTel's Internet
Services Division. "We've always provided businesses with high speed
access and developed the applications that drive their necessity, so
I'm extremely excited about bringing these advanced capabilities
home."
Internet users with DSLink Service will have greater access to
the new and emerging technologies of the Internet, including
full-motion video, faster loading times, streaming content and
unbelievably fast download speeds -- all at value-priced rate plans.
Both Silicon Beach Communications, Inc. and WestNet
Communications are Integrated Communications Providers of Internet
access, telephony service, calling cards, Web development and Web
hosting to individuals and business customers. Silicon Beach and
WestNet own and operate Internet points-of-presence throughout the
Central Coast of California.
AvTel Communications, Inc. is a provider of broadband network
services integrating voice, data and video networking solutions for
individuals and business customers. The Company markets and sells a
broad range of telecommunications and advanced network services
through independent value-added resellers and internal direct sales
professionals. The Company targets mid-size corporations, small-office
home-office professionals and select residential market segments. The
