Night Writer: 1) By enterprises, I meant all businesses larger than "mom and pop". 2) There are some American artefacts which are valued - but mainly by youngsters e.g. films, and some clothing styles (although British youth are very independent of American styles). Also, a lot of fast-food outlets like MacDonalds, Pizza Hut and even Starbucks is starting up. But whereas these are successful, the chattering classes looks down its nose at them. The French are very resistant to US influences although their kids are much more accepting of US clothing styles than, say, British kids. (3) It's a sticky wicket in cricket when the pitch is very receptive to off-spin or leg-spin from the bowler, making it unpredictable for the batsman, so that instead of leaning forward on his front foot to drive the ball forcefully in attacking mode, he must pull back as close to the wicket a he can to give the ball time to bounce so he can see what direction it turns, if any, he can still score from this position but it is much more defensive and harder to do. What makes it sticky, and why do you have to play it on the back foot? Sorry if this is a dumb question. It is the only way I can learn. << You do not know how the ball is going to bounce, so give it as much time as you can. Do not make a hasty decision. Vepoc: how did I do?
