That's a very good point Joan. You can be in a monogamous relationship apart from marriage, and certainly would feel offended by the term "promiscuous".

We've too many words in the English language. Just confuses people. Would be ++Good if we pruned half of them.

jbe - using the term "immoral" to describe sex outside of marriage would even further place one in the politically-incorrect camp.

The term promiscuity, IMO, adequately encompasses the immorality involved, but it also points out the fact that sex without benefit of marriage is in a way, "indescriminate" because the lack of bona fide marriage inherently allows (some would say legally protects) the possibility of multiple partners. Given how uncommitted people meet each other, it also fits within the ramifications of "random," as well.
