Quicken(R) Personal Finance Software to be Available For Palm Computing(R) Platform New Pocket Quicken(R) from Software Developer, LandWare, Transforms 3Com(R) Connected Organizers Into Mobile Money Managers MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., and ORADELL, N.J., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Intuit, Inc. and LandWare, Inc. today announced Pocket Quicken(R) for Palm Computing's Operating System, Palm OS(TM). Pocket Quicken is the first ever Quicken(R) solution for the Palm Computing platform.
Designed to be a companion product to the desktop version of Quicken 99, Pocket Quicken will enable users to capture checking, credit card, and cash transactions while on the road, then easily upload the information to Quicken on their desktop PCs. Quicken 99 was designed to automatically accept data from Palm organizers through the Palm Computing platform's standard HotSync(R) function. Pocket Quicken and Quicken 99 will enable users to turn their hand-held computers into mobile money managers that are fast, flexible, and easy to use.
Created by LandWare, Inc., a leading Palm OS and PDA publisher, Pocket Quicken is the first and only seamless Quicken solution available for the Palm Computing platform. LandWare will also market and sell the product, which is targeted to the more 10 million desktop Quicken customers and more than two million owners of Palm(TM) connected organizers.
''Our customers have been asking for a Quicken solution for some time and we welcome Intuit's and LandWare's joint efforts to bring this product to the market,'' said Mark Bercow, vice president of strategic alliances and platform development for Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. ''The combination of a Palm Computing platform product and Pocket Quicken make for an extremely powerful portable finance tracking tool.''
With Pocket Quicken, users will be able to organize finances quickly and easily. Any type of transaction for multiple accounts -- including checks, credit cards, cash, deposits, withdrawals, splits, and transfers -- can be tracked with Pocket Quicken. Users will also be able to use their desktop categories and classes to further organize and group business expenses by trip, project or client.
Pocket Quicken also features:
* Fast data entry. Pocket Quicken includes two of Quicken's most popular step-saving shortcuts: QuickFill and memorized transactions. These features will enable users to record day-to-day transactions with a stroke of the stylus. * One-click connection and account access -- Pocket Quicken makes it easy to keep desktop Quicken information up to date. With the Palm device's HotSync button, users will be able to send transactions from Pocket Quicken to desktop Quicken effortlessly. Account names, balances and categories are downloaded from the desktop, which allows transaction-entry to desktop Quicken with minimal effort. * Security -- Pocket Quicken helps ensure that user information is safe and secure. Users may assign a private PIN number to prevent others from accessing their financial data.
''We are extremely pleased with the design of the Pocket Quicken solution for Palm OS,'' said Steve Grey, Intuit's director of Quicken marketing. ''LandWare has done an outstanding job, particularly in creating many step-saving shortcuts to enter data. Pocket Quicken will be an attractive product for users of Quicken 99 and Palm connected organizers.''
