I think that in effect they have said that earnings will be better.

Revenues are higher than expected. Gross margins are higher than expected. Headcount is pretty much on target. R&D and capital expenditure don't appear to be unusually high.

Hard to see how you can have all that and NOT have earnings higher than expected.

But you're right, they didn't state it explicitly.
