The analysts' price targets are based on valuations that are
difficult to comprehend, says Amerindo's Lord. But there
may be a motive, he says. The sell-side analysts want to
get in on the secondary offerings of these companies. So it's
impossible for them to downgrade the stock or say anything
negative, Lord explains.

While analysts are using valuations that are outside of
traditional models, no one knows what is fair value for
Internet companies. "Great stories and explosive stories
always look too expensive, and then they get more
expensive," says Siegel. "I think if anyone thinks they can
put a value on these stories, they are kidding themselves."
