<The Intel announcement is quite interesting IMO. It shows there is Still room for Both AMD and Intel, and that consumers will continue to gobble up PC's during this Christmas season.>

I think this upturn in demand caught just about everyone off-guard, including AMD, Intel, and those infamous analysts. Even during the summer, Intel shut down its fab here for about two weeks to clear out the inventory channel. Now it seems that Intel can't keep up with demand, and AMD will be more than happy to fill in wherever Intel can't provide.

<Does anyone know how many Celeron As were sold last Q? (And PIIs if you have the data)>

I heard that the number was in the range of 3 to 4 million, which doesn't sound too far fetched. Don't quote me on that, though.

<Also, IF the problem with whatever it was with 4-way Xeons has been resolved, isn't it safe to assume that quite a bit of the increased revenue will come from sales of these Xeons?>

The Xeon, while a high margin product, is still pretty low volume compared to the desktop markets. Once again, meeting demand is the issue, and I don't think even Intel anticipated such demand for Xeon.

Of course, this is an AMD thread, and all this good news about Intel means good news for AMD as well. Like I said before, AMD will be more than happy to fill the demand that Intel can't meet, and they'll take that straight to the bank.

RE: Sales of Celeron in Q3

Kurlak (http://www.askmerrill.com) estimates (15 Sept) 2.8 million Celeron in Q3 at ASP $120. Also 9.3 PII at $260. These estimates are components of his Q3 total sales for Intel of $6,460.
