I think owning a portal is like owning the railroad and telegraph. Everything has to go through you and every time someone wants to create a new business, you are in the path of commerce. Money and commerce have to flow through the portals as new kinds of businesses evolve such as new kinds of business brokerage, etc.

How do put a value on controlling the supply chain in a whole new way of conducting business?
