Hey Datek - why do you put your name on that worthless Motley Fool commercial you send out with our monthly statements? Take the "It's Never Too Early to Start Investing" article. I actually read that piece of crap and it's a complete joke. It talks about the effects of compound growth, saying how you can get 5% in bank or with bonds, 10% in stock market, "and 20% or more is what she might get if she invests Foolishly." WHAT? The Fools have never proven they can beat the market and I am pretty sure they know they never will. Their only original contribution that I know of is the "Foolish Four" strategy, which is based on historical data and nothing more. I can find hundreds of systems like that in an hour and they all will be just as worthless. How can they even use something like that to justify that 20% figure? Ever heard of "past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results?" Then they go on to say how if you put in a $100, you'll have almost a million in 50 years. The whole article doesn't even mention the word "inflation!" Yes, you'll have a million (if you make 20% a year, which by following their strategies you won't) but it won't be even close to a million in today's money. And how about the taxes and commissions? No mention either. I saw late-night futures trading commercial that are more responsible and truthful. Talk about creating false expectations! Sorry for the rant, I just needed to get it off my chest.
