SAMSUNG CLAIMS IT IS BREAKING WORLD RECORDS WITH NEW RAMBUS DRAMS

NOV 11, 1998, M2 Communications - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd says that
it is the first to have completed the development of a 144Mb Rambus
DRAM Direct component and a 144MB Rambus in-line memory module. The new
Rambus modules have been designed to replace the current main memory
components, the 100MHz synchronous DRAMs. The 144Mb Rambus DRAM is made
with 0.23-micron process technology and can process data at
record-breaking speeds of up to 1.6Gb per second. Other features
include a micro Ball Grid Array (BGA) package, which reduces the size
and weight of the device, making it easy to install. Samsung will begin
to produce 100,000 of the new devices/month in February 1999, and hopes
to increase production to 1m units/month in 3Q'99.
