The Financial Post reports in a Bloomberg dispatch its lead business story in its Wednesday edition that Peter Young, a former Morgan Grenfell Asset Management fund manager now charged with fraud, appeared in a London court on Tuesday wearing a beige skirt, red lipstick, high heels, floral frock and clutching a pink handbag. A charming picture of fund-manager-turned-drag-queen graces the cover of the Financial Post. Mr. Young was charged with conspiracy to defraud and other offences under the Financial Services Act by the Serious Fraud Office last month. He, and three other executives facing charges, were ordered to return to court on March 15. Mr. Young's lawyer, Alexander Cameron, declined to comment on his client's dress at the City of London Magistrate's Court, saying: "I am only prepared to tell you how to spell my name." Eric Langaker, a founder of Fiba Nordic Securities, and Jan Helge Johnsen, a colleague, a charged with conspiracy to defraud.
Stewart Armer, another fund fund manager at Morgan Grenfell charged with conspiracy to defraud, did not appear because he is studying in Chile. Mr. Young is charged with using 13 Luxembourg cmopanies to hide unlisted securities once he crossed treshold holding limits. The scandal cost Deutsche Bank about 400 million pounds, or $664-million. (Mr. Young's favourite stocks included Solv-Ex, Ashurst Technology and Princess Resources.)
