Alien Tech..IMHO,there is a lot of differences between the products you mentioned. Just ask an early buyer of Microsoft or Cisco how much money he has made. A personal like or dislike of the products involved doesn't necessarily mirror their performance in the marketplace or the resulting corporation stock performance. Routers (Cisco) and operating systems (Microsoft) are rightly used in the book as examples of gorilla power exclusion. Word processors and spreadsheets aren't in the same league, but clever bundling and marketing has been successful in differentiating them, at least so far. In the long run none probably everything will be a commodity, but you know what Lord Keynes said about the long run (especially applicable at my age <g>)
